AD 50-120: The Didache, also known as The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, is a handbook for early Christian life. It is typically dated to the late first or early second century, so this writing likely overlaps with the time period of the Apostles, or just shortly after. The text deals with ethics, and Church life, including baptism and the Eucharist. Some early Christian leaders considered the Didache to be part of Scripture, but the Church eventually decided against that. However, this remains an extremely well respected writing, and one of the earliest witnesses to early Church practices.
